Hiroshima castle(広島城)

Hiroshima castle is at a 15 min walking distance from the Atomic bomb dome. Apart from the other castles that I have seen in Japan, Hiroshima castle is not situated on a hilltop. Surrounded by a beautiful moat there is a shrine and the Ninomaru ruins, a Japanese style garden etc. within the vast castle complex situated at the city centre. The great shrine inside the castle grounds has a lot of visitors. Considering other tourists spots of Hiroshima, the castle and associated areas seem to be not so popular among the visitors.

Boating facilities(Paid) through the beautiful wide moat is available at the entrance. Bicycle renting facilities(coin-operated) are also available near to it.

The five-storied castle building preserves historic remainings and details about the castle itself. From the top of the castle, we will get a nice view of the Hiroshima city. The castle building was also destroyed by the atomic bomb blast and it was reconstructed in 1958.
