Tajimi city’s 出初式

Tajimi city used to conduct this event on every second Sunday of the New year(It differs in every city). They used to conduct a trial in the month of December. On this special day, the firefighters are greeted by the city administrators(mayor), representatives from various organizations of the city etc. They arrange flowers on both sides of the meeting hall building(Tajimi Culture hall) on the banks of the Toki river, just aside the Tajimibashi. A firefighting demonstration will be held.

A pole will be erected on the banks of the river, decorated with white and red striped curtain. Crackers will be burst and  Hydrogen balloons will be flown from this pole at the end of the ceremony. The fire engines will spray water jets of consecutive red and white colours from the other bank of the Toki river. The combination of white and red colours is a symbol of the festival in Japan. A large number of people will be gathering on the banks of Toki river to watch this ceremony. Certain fun elements for kids will also be organized by the fire department. Kids and parents can watch and experience the fire engine vehicles closeby. Certain small food stalls will also be opened at the venue during this event.
