Yakisoba(焼きそば), Japanese stirred noodle recipe

Yakisoba is one of my favourite Japanese foods. It is the stir fried noodles cooked with vegetables like cabbage, carrot and usually, pork is also used. It can be cooked easily with minimal ingredients. We can see freshly prepared Yakisoba in every festive location of Japan. This is a kids favourite and an easy to prepare food for mamas at home Yakisoba Its taste lies in the sauce which is a mixture of soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, oyster sauce, ketchup, and sugar. Readymade sauce for Yakisoba could be seen in all the Japanese supermarkets.

  1. Noodles (Seen in the refrigerated section of supermarkets): 2 packets
  2. Yakisoba sauce(5 tsp)
  3. Vegetables: onion(1 small), carrots(1), cabbage(1/8th), green onion(1 stem) (bell pepper(1), Shitake mushrooms(4), beans sprouts(one handful) could also be used).
  4. Pork(100 grams)

  1. Cut the pork into small pieces. Slice all the vegetables into small stripes.
  2. On a hot frying pan, add some oil (sesame oil goes better) and cook the pork. Then add the vegetables and stir fry them.
  3. Later add the noodles into one end of the pan and cover it with a lid until all the ingredients are cooked soft.
  4. Pour the Yakisoba sauce over it and mix everything well.
  5. Serve it hot with some ginger pickle.
