Sushi (すし, 寿司, 鮨) And Sashimi (刺身)

Sushi (すし, 寿司, 鮨) :

Sushi is a common Japanese dish which includes fish. It is vinegared rice with fish.Sometimes it contains raw fish too. This is either served with soy sauce or Wasabi. It comes in various varieties based on the type of fish used, the size of the rolled rice in Nori/seaweed(called Makizushi), shape of the sushi etc. Sometimes, meat is also used instead of fish.

Sashimi (刺身) :

 

Sashimi is one of the most famous Japanese food. They are thin slices of raw fish/meat. It is often served with Soy sauce or Wasabi paste. Usually fishes like Tuna, Maguro, Salmon, Octopus, Prawns etc. are mostly used for Sashimi. Horse meat is also served in some places as Sashimi. Salmon roe is another most commonly available Sashimi,

Sashimi and Sushi are comparatively costly foods. But cheaper ones are available as convenient store lunch boxes.
